You can’t fix what you can’t find.
In this video, I break down what’s really holding most high school baseball players back and how to pinpoint your son’s #1 limiter so you can finally build a plan that actually works.
What Most Families Get Wrong About Player Development
Hard work isn’t the issue…working on the wrong things is. Most players are putting in the hours, but they’re focused on surface level improvements, not the core limiter keeping them from leveling up.
The 4 Limiters Keeping Your Son From Reaching the Next Level
1. Mechanics
Most serious players have “good enough” mechanics. That’s not the issue. The bigger limiter? Power production. Many kids are quick-twitch but lack the strength to hit for extra bases.
2. The Mental Game
0-for-4 isn’t a slump…but most kids treat it like one. Without mental frameworks, even minor setbacks become spirals. Pro hitters can go 0-for-45 and still come back. High schoolers need that same resilience.
3. Confidence (The Byproduct of Preparation)
Confidence isn’t a personality trait…it’s earned. If your son only trains during team practice and private lessons, but never works in the shadows, confidence will always be shaky.
4. Exposure (Or Lack Thereof)
You can’t hit a target you can’t see. Most families don’t have a clear recruiting strategy. Without a plan, you’re essentially blindfolded, hoping something will work. Only 7% of high school players play in college…and just 2% make it D1.
